Error was born in Vilnius in June 2009 as part of a Capital of Culture project which deteriorated into a reality television show on Lithuanian National television. Monika Malinauskaite (Lithuania) Justin Tyler Tate (Canada/USA/Estonia) and Ernest Truely (Estonia/USA) were fired from the television show and went to Tallinn, Estonia to continue their activities at Culture Factory Polymer. Error creates site specific, functional installation art, assemblage and traditional objects of art. While Error has a core collective of members it often acquires other artists, designers, makers, etc. to work with on specific projects. Error is also a registered non-profit/non-governmental organization in Estonia.
Error’s board of directors is made up of Justin Tyler Tate and Ernest Truely. Error is a registered non-profit/non-governmental organization in Estonia. Error dedicates disused spaces for cultural and social exchange through the design and construction of site specific materials.

Rules:
- We will lock ourselves inside our studio for 20 hours.
- We will communicate with each other without pause for 20 hours.
- We will use no words.
- Matching is a jewelry based project. We designed and fabricated silver matches, hand printed packaging and sold the works as part of a public intervention.

- Errorists reclaimed a disused courtyard, transforming it into garden complete with gazebo, planters and sauna through the repurposing of materials.
- Error Collective created a library installation out of cardboard, pallets and discarded books.
- Errorists tend to make gifts while they’re making errors and so they transformed the lobby of the art museum into a gift shop with Errors for sale.
- Errorists create a semi-fictional land development scheme as they envision a new future for abandoned villages in the south Estonian countryside.
- Errorists create land art and functional installations in a private garden.
- Errorists transform a gallery space into a “spa” and offer services over the course of a week.
- Errorists transform a portion of the town’s library into a “spa” and offer services for 5 days.

- I Hate Poetry Workshop: (Tallinn, Estonia @ Culture Factory Polymer) We used letterpress printing and recyled books to create installation and materials used in live art.
- Interformat Symposium: (Nida, Lithuania @ Nida Art Colony) We demonstrated the use of Error Sauna as a social and art intervention.
- White Spots: (Riga, Latvia @ Totaldobze) We explained the function of collective art production and available materials
- REUSE: (Tallinn, Estonia @ Culture Factory Polymer)We led a eight week course on assemblage of available materials to create furniture, costumes and musical instruments
- Trashlab: (Tallinn, Estonia @ Culture Factory Polymer) We worked together to research and build a rocket stove.
- Trashlab: (Helsinki, Finland @ Espoo MiniMakerFaire) Errorists lead a 2-day workshop on reusing commonly available waste products to make oil lanterns, rain gear and camp-stoves. 2015
- Transmedia Storytelling: (Tartu, Estonia @ Kunstimaja) Errorists teach a group of young adults on creative storytelling across multiple formats using various social-media websites and software as well as improvisational approaches. 2016
Residencies:
- Culture Factory Polymer in Tallinn, Estonia: Screen printed labels for Matching, produced second edition of silver matches at Gram Studio.
- Nida Art Colony in Nida, Lithuania: Built one permanent and one mobile sauna.
- Noor Eesti Looming Keskus in Tartu, Estonia: Used letterpress printing press, linocut and othe print processes to produce Error labels and materials for Error Master Suite Project.
- Not Quite in Fengersfors, Sweden: Between the 13th and 31 July in 2012 Errorists worked collaboratively on 2 Gates and a (Spiral) Jetty while working on individual projects.
- MoKS in Mooste, Estonia: Error built a power generating windmill from available materials.
- Pikene på Broen in Kirkenes, Norway: Error transformed part of the local library into a spa installation during February of 2017.
