Between 8 to 15 participants can join and must commit to attending every session.
Ages; 11-14 with an adult; 15-18
Participants learn to make comprehensible and high quality videos on their own, to be
contributors, not just consumers. of media culture. Participants will gain awareness of
strategies and techniques for camera handling, composition, lighting, sound, special
effects and post production; they will develop a critical awareness of the content and
form of YouTube style videos.
Participants should bring their own laptops; we can guide students in installing editing
freeware. Participants should bring a camera of any quality, a webcam or phone camera
can be fine. Tartu Art House will provide a meeting place with access to high speed
internet and a video projector.
Error YouTube workshop will meet for three consecutive weekends in a row in February
2013. After the workshop Error New Media can develop as a club where participants can
work collectively, share ideas and information virtually and in life.
Each three hour workshop session includes lecture/demonstration, guided practice
and review. Upon completion participants will produce a video short demonstrating
awareness of the themes covered in the course.
Meeting Times; Saturdays 14:00 to 17:00 Sundays 10:00 to 13:00
February 9, Session 1: Topics: Content, genre and style. Participants share their favorite
online videos and video or photographic work they have produced. We share strategies
for searching and promoting content.
February 10, Session 2: Instructions: Camera handling, tripod, steady cam, lighting,
composition, transferring media. Video production guided practice.
February 16, Session 3: Instruction: DIY Lighting, filters, chroma key and special effects.
Video production guided practice.
February 17, Session 4: Instruction: DIY sound, available technology and editing. Video
production guided practice.
February 23, Session 5: Critique and review; topics include production, content and
clarity.
February 24, Session 6: Video/screenings and public exhibition.
